Dr. Glenn Parker, Medical and Dental Staff President:
Dr. Parker, medical and dental staff president, took a moment to thank everyone at JSUMC who run all of our day to day operations.  Dr. Parker expressed his gratitude to everyone for their tremendous amount of sacrifice, dedication, flexibility, and compassion demonstrated to our patients' care and treatment during the past year.

Vaccine Village has done an amazing and effective job keeping our team members and community protected.

Over the last six months, our Epic deficiencies and documentation are continuing to improve.  This coincides with harmonizing the medical record to keep everything timely.

HCAHPS scores are somewhat improving.  We need to continue to work on that by treating everyone with courtesy and respect.

The Academic Department of Neurology was created.

There are currently 1,725 members of the medical and dental staff, including allied health professionals, with another 35+ joining us in June.

Initiatives are ongoing regarding decreasing lengths of stay, as well as keeping expenses down.

FUTURE PROJECTS:

  • Network core privileging relative to credentialing.
  • Improving Notes with templates in an effort to decrease copy and paste.
  • System-wide Bylaws revision. Some members of our medical staff at JSUMC are working on this.
  • Increasing PA’s responsibility of practice parameters in the future.

Dr. Parker thanked the Medical Executive Committee and Officers during these initiatives as we work toward a cohesive medical staff and HMH system.

Dr. Kim Carpenter, Chief Medical Officer reported on the following:
Our response to COVID over the past 6 months has involved every one of us, trying to make it the best possible treatment and recovery as we could.
At this time, JSUMC has three positive COVID patients in house.
A new Epic initiative is the timely completion of documentation, including signing off.  The initiative will be rolled-out in July.  More information will be coming. Please look for further communication.
Dr. Carpenter spoke briefly about the new Gainsharing program.
Dr. Carpenter expressed his appreciation to the medical and dental staff and the leadership team here at JSUMC for their continued loyalty and engagement.  Dr. Carpenter hopes to continue to work cohesively together.
