CMS Changes 2019 MIPS Payment Adjustment

Published:
October 13, 2018
Overview: Hackensack Meridian Health’s payment adjustment for our Medicare Shared Savings Program ACOs will decrease in 2019 as the result of corrections that the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services made to its scoring logic. Physician impact: Payment adjustments will take effect on January 1 for Hackensack ACO, JFK Health ACO and Meridian ACO.
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services has made a slight decrease to the payment adjustment for our Medicare Shared Savings Program ACO. The change takes effect January 1 and became necessary after CMS identified errors with its scoring logic.

Why CMS adjusted our 2019 MIPS Payments

CMS announced in September that it had made mistakes when processing quality scores. Fixing the mistakes requires changes to the 2017 MIPS final score and associated 2019 MIPS payments.

How to review your MIPS Payment Adjustment

If you don’t participate in a Hackensack Meridian Health ACO, you can review your 2019 MIPS Payment Adjustment on the Quality Payment Program (QPP) website. ACO participants can also log onto the QPP website to view their ACO’s aggregate score. A EIDM account is required to log onto the QPP website.
