What You Need to Know
For the second year in a row, Bob Garrett has been ranked first on the NJBIZ Health Care Power 50 list, recognized for his commitment to providing exceptional, accessible health care to the people of New Jersey.
According to NJBIZ, Mr. Garrett is ranked #1 because of his leadership in advancing research and innovation across New Jersey’s largest health system through the Hackensack Meridian Center for Discovery and Innovation and opening the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. Hackensack Meridian Health has the top adult and children’s hospitals in the state, and was recognized for his efforts to provide safe, high-quality healthcare. In addition, Mr. Garrett has been a champion for health equity and has been recognized for his efforts to advance diversity, equity and inclusion.
Governor Phil Murphy called this recognition “richly deserved” while noting that Mr. Garrett has put the health and well-being of New Jersey residents above all else. Gov. Murphy called his visionary leadership a “game-changer” for HMH, allowing the network to expand and serve patients in innovative, compassionate ways.
In addition to Bob Garrett, two more HMH leaders were also named to the list:
- Andre Goy, M.D., Physician-in-Chief, Oncology; Chair of the John Theurer Cancer Center at Hackensack University Medical Center
- Gary Small, M.D., Behavioral Health Physician-in-Chief for Hackensack Meridian Health; Chair, Psychiatry at Hackensack University Medical Center
