Hackensack Meridian Health announced that six of its hospitals earned an “A” grade for Hospital Safety from The Leapfrog Group, a national nonprofit watchdog.
Hackensack University Medical Center and Bayshore Medical Center are also among an elite group nationwide to be designated as a “Straight A” hospital. “Straight A” hospitals have earned an “A” in at least five consecutive cycles of the Hospital Safety Grade.
Hackensack Meridian Health hospitals receiving an “A” rating for safety from Leapfrog include:
- Hackensack Meridian Bayshore Medical Center
- Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center
- Hackensack Meridian Riverview Medical Center
- Hackensack Meridian Raritan Bay Medical Center
- Hackensack Meridian Hackensack University Medical Center
- Hackensack Meridian Southern Ocean Medical Center
The Leapfrog Hospital Safety Grade is a unique rating program in that it focuses solely on preventable infections, injuries, accidents, and medical errors. According to The Leapfrog Group, these otherwise preventable conditions are the cause of up to 200,000 deaths in the U.S. each year.
