What You Need To Know
On February 16, Riverview Medical Center officially opened the doors to its brand-new LL1 inpatient oncology unit, marking a major step forward in cancer care for the community. The opening was a resounding success, representing the culmination of a significant expansion project designed to provide state-of-the-art, patient-centered care.
Located in the Jane Booker Pavilion, the new unit is a key part of Hackensack Meridian Health's commitment to enhancing oncology services in the region. The nearly 11,000-square-foot expansion, a $14.5 million investment, adds 20 new private patient rooms, bringing the hospital's total number of dedicated inpatient oncology beds to 41.
The successful opening reflects the incredible new features the unit offers to patients and families. Each room is designed with a calming atmosphere, featuring picturesque views of the Navesink River. The space also includes an oversized family waiting room and a central, high-tech nursing station designed to improve communication and care coordination.
This expansion aims to strengthen the continuity of care, allowing more patients to receive high-quality cancer treatment close to home. By keeping oncology patients in a dedicated, specialized wing, the medical team can provide more cohesive and coordinated treatment.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony in late January brought together Hackensack Meridian Health executives, physician specialists, and local elected officials to celebrate the milestone. The new unit is now fully operational, providing a healing environment that supports both the complex medical needs of patients and the emotional well-being of their families.
The successful launch of the LL1 unit reinforces Riverview Medical Center's legacy as a leader in oncology care, ensuring our community has access to the most advanced and compassionate cancer treatment available.
