What You Need To Know
This week, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) released its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2025. Hackensack University Medical Center once again earned a 5-star rating, one of only three hospitals in New Jersey to receive this designation. Additionally, three HMH hospitals received a 4-star rating – Southern Ocean Medical Center, Pascack Valley Medical Center and Riverview Medical Center. These hospitals are among only 13 in New Jersey to receive this designation.
All HMH hospitals received a 3-star rating or higher. A total of 25 hospitals in New Jersey received a 2-star or 1-star rating; however, no HMH facilities were in those categories.
These CMS Star Ratings recognize the significant improvements we have made over the last five years and are a testament to our exceptional physicians, nurses and team members.
CMS assigns Star Ratings to U.S. hospitals annually based on key performance measures: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates and timely and effective care. CMS ratings are considered a valuable tool for patients and their families as they look to make well-informed health care decisions. We are committed to serving our communities and patients with the highest quality and safest care, and we will continue getting better every day.
