The Florence M. Cook School of Medical Laboratory Science has been a part of Jersey Shore University Medical Center’s laboratory academic department since 1947, educating over 700 Medical Laboratory Scientists (MLS).

The school recently undertook a site inspection by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Science (NAACLS), which is the premier international agency for approving educational programs for the clinical laboratory sciences and related health care professions.
The accreditation process takes a total of nine months for preparation, this includes the construction of a two-month long self-study. Three months later the FMCSMLS was approved for site visitation by two inspectors.
