What You Need To Know
Hackensack Meridian Health is launching a new Integrative Health and Medicine Fellowship, positioning the health network at the forefront of academic integrative medicine training in the state.
This initiative represents a major milestone for the network, as it will be the first Integrative Medicine fellowship program in New Jersey, placing Hackensack Meridian Health among a select group of nationally-recognized academic institutions offering this advanced level of training. Beginning in July 2026, the program will welcome its first fellow into a two-year fellowship designed to prepare physicians to deliver evidence-based, patient-centered integrative care within an academic health system.
The fellowship is designed to bridge the gap between conventional medical training and whole-person care, equipping physicians with advanced clinical, educational, and leadership skills in integrative medicine. The fellow will gain hands-on clinical experience while participating in interdisciplinary learning, scholarly projects, and mentorship opportunities that support the development of future physician-leaders.
As part of the curriculum, the new hire will complete the University of Arizona Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine Fellowship curriculum, a nationally recognized program that includes online didactic learning and immersive on-site experiential training.
The fellowship will be led by Jillian Cohen, M.D., DABFM, ABOIM, Fellowship Director of Integrative Health & Medicine, and David C. Leopold, M.D., DABFM, DABOIM, DABLM, Network Medical Director of Integrative Health & Medicine, alongside an interdisciplinary leadership team dedicated to advancing innovation and whole-person care across the network.
