Jersey Shore University Medical Center has launched a Cardio-Oncology Program that offers care for oncology patients and survivors who develop or may be at risk to develop cardiac issues.
Louis Steven Zukerman, M.D., medical director of the Cardio-Oncology Program, will see patients on the first floor in HOPE Tower every Tuesday, from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The Cardio-Oncology Program will especially be beneficial for:
- Patients who will begin chemotherapy or radiation therapy and have risk factors for or are being treated for heart disease
- Patients who are experiencing cardiac symptoms during cancer therapy
- Management of cardiac complications of cancer treatments (e.g. hypertension, CHF, arterial or venous thrombus or thromboembolism, arrhythmias, angina).
- Imaging of cardiac function (EF assessment and strain imaging) before, during and after treatment with cancer therapies known to affect cardiac function (e.g. Adriamycin, Herceptin)
- Screen for radiation-induced CAD, valvular heart disease, pericardial disease
