The St. Baldrick’s Foundation, the largest private funder of childhood cancer research grants, awarded the Children's Cancer Institute of Joseph M. Sanzari Children's Hospital an infrastructure grant.

Under the leadership of pediatric oncologist Katharine Offer, M.D., the one-year grant will support a clinical research associate in the children’s hospital’s pediatric solid tumor program.

“This funding will allow us to build and manage our clinical trial program for children's solid tumors, notably sarcomas," said Dr. Offer. "Having the ability to hire this key staff member will enable us to advance progress in research that will directly benefit children with a variety of cancers. Our ultimate goal is to cure these devastating pediatric cancers.”

Infrastructure Grants are awarded based on the need of the institution and its patients, anticipated results of the grant and local participation in St. Baldrick’s fundraising events and activities.
