Sarah Timmapuri, MD, FACC, has been named vice president, Chief Quality Officer and Clinical Integration Officer for Hackensack University Medical Center. She will report directly to Lisa Tank, MD, FACP, MBA, President & Chief Hospital Executive of Hackensack University Medical Center, with a dotted line to Jose Azar, MD, executive vice president and Chief Quality & Service Line Officer for the network.
In this role, Dr. Timmapuri will be responsible for the overall strategy, design and oversight of programs within the hospital aimed at enhancing patient and organizational value. She will be tasked with establishing a strategy for the clinical delivery system to ensure lower costs, improved outcomes and enhanced organizational reputation. Dr. Timmapuri will also set the strategy for quality within HUMC, working to reduce patient harm while enhancing clinical innovation and growth, ensuring alignment with HMH’s status as a High Reliability Organization.
Dr. Timmapuri joined the organization almost 30 years ago, and most recently has served as the regional medical director for Hackensack University Medical Center and the northern region. She has held a number of medical staff leadership positions on the Medical Executive Committee, and was an instrumental part of the network’s COVID clinical preparedness. She previously served as the Chief Clinical Information Officer for the network, and has a strong background in Clinical Informatics, including as the co-founder of global medical software solutions company, Iton.
In addition, Dr. Timmapuri is an assistant professor and faculty advisor at the Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine. She received her Doctor of Medicine from Northwest University Medical School, and is a founding member of LIG Global Foundation, an international charitable medical foundation providing surgical and medical care in places of need.
