We are pleased to announce the opening of the Multidisciplinary Inflammatory Bowel Disease (IBD) Center at Hackensack University Medical Center. We are thrilled to welcome its inaugural Medical Director, Dr. Alyssa Parian, a distinguished, board-certified gastroenterologist. Dr. Parian joins us from The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine, where she served as an Associate Professor of Medicine, Clinical Director of Gastroenterology and Hepatology, and Medical Director of GI Infusion Services. Her extensive training includes an Internal Medicine residency at New York Presbyterian - Weill Cornell and Gastroenterology and IBD training at Johns Hopkins.
Located on the 3rd floor of the Sanzari Medical Pavilion, the IBD Center is designed around a patient-centric model that brings a full spectrum of care to a single, convenient location. Patients have direct access to a dedicated team of nutritional counselors, mental health specialists, and social workers to address the multifaceted nature of IBD. The Center is co-located with our Colorectal Surgery practice, enabling seamless communication, collaborative treatment planning, and the convenience of same-day appointments with both medical and surgical specialists.
We are committed to advancing the science of IBD treatment. The Center is actively enrolling patients in clinical trials for novel drug targets, including a promising anti-TL1A therapy, offering patients access to the next generation of IBD medications. Since its ribbon-cutting in January 2025, the IBD Center has already provided coordinated care to over 200 new patients. This demonstrates the significant need for advanced, multidisciplinary IBD management within our community, providing an essential resource that eliminates the need for patients to travel to New York City for this level of specialized care. Dr. Parian and the IBD Center team are now accepting new patient referrals for the management of Crohn’s disease, ulcerative colitis, pouchitis and immune checkpoint inhibitor-induced colitis.
