What You Need To Know

Hackensack University Medical Center

One June 9, Hackensack University Medical Center celebrated the remarkable achievements of its graduating fellows and residents. A theme throughout many programs this year has been ‘Changing the World. Changing Vision.’ This year’s class exemplifies that beautifully. As a result of their education at HUMC, each graduate is poised to bring expertise, adaptability and forward-thinking mindsets to the always evolving medical landscape. Please join us once again in congratulating them on their incredible achievements.

JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute

JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute’s residency program trains physicians from around the nation who specialize in physical medicine and rehabilitation — and the fellowship programs train doctors who sub-specialize in pain medicine and brain injury medicine.

JFK Johnson Rehabilitation Institute’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Residency Program regularly receives a Five Star rating — the highest possible — from Doximity, the leading network for American physicians. The fellowship programs are among the nation’s most competitive. The residency and fellowship programs are accredited by the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME).

The 2025 graduating fellows are:

  • Daniel McBride, MD - (Brain Injury Medicine)
  • Brian Singer, MD - (Pain Medicine)

The 2025 residency graduates are:

  • Jessie Chan, MD
  • Michael Galibov, DO
  • Faraz Jamal, DO
  • Shirley Shen, MD
  • James Yun, MD

The one-year Pain Medicine Fellowship program enables physicians to become American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) board certified in the subspecialty of Pain Medicine. The fellowship trains Pain fellows in the pharmacological, interventional, psychological, and mechanical aspects of pain management and treatment through a multidisciplinary approach.

Ocean University Medical Center

Raritan Bay Medical Center

Team members gathered on the Concourse Thursday to “clap out” the eight graduates of Raritan Bay Medical Center’s 2025 Internal Medicine Residency Program. The graduating residents include: Mageda Al Areqi, MD; Ayesha Ali, MD; Sebastian Casillas, MD; Alaa Irshad, MD; Scott Jafarian, MD; Sadat Kasanga, MD; Ahsan Salik, MD and Daniela Umana Cuellar, MD. This ceremony was especially meaningful because this is the last graduating class to ever walk through RBMC’s halls. Beginning July, the residency program will be transitioning to JFK University Medical Center.

We also want to honor our residents from the JFK Neurology Program who did their first year in internal medicine before proceeding to their neurology training: Allen Fox, MD; Abhishek Goyal, MD; Nino Goguadze, MD and Syeda Hussaini, MD.

Congratulations also goes to our PGY-1 (Postgraduate Year 1) residents: Ahmed Demirci, MD; Humayoun Amini, MD; Jesus Bautista Garzon, MD; Kofi Opoku, MD; Kholood Ziada, MD; Hifza Aslam, MD, and Isamikla Sanchez Acosta, MD; and our PGY-2 (Postgraduate Year 2) residents: Salih Akgun, MD; Mitesh Garsondiya, MD; Tanvi Grover, MD; Fatima Mian, MD; Resham Mirza, MD; Sabeeha Mustafa, MD; Numair Rizwan, MD, and Jocelyne Tatchou, MD.
