Dr. Abdulla Al-Khan was a keynote speaker at the 75th annual Congress of the Japan Society of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Tokyo, where he provided a comprehensive update on Hackensack University Medical Center's groundbreaking program on Abnormally and Invasive Placentation -- the first such program of its kind in the world.
The program included lectures on the latest medical research by domestic and international researchers as well as sessions and workshops on topics that have been the focus of attention in recent years regarding women’s health. Out of hundreds of distinguished speakers from across the globe, Dr. Al-Khan was one of only eight there representing the United States.
"There were many incredible medical, surgical and research innovations there occurring across the globe. We only get better as physicians and scientists by coming together, sharing ideas and collaborating. As the world becomes smaller, we need to unite to ensure the best of care for our patients," he said.
He explains the symposium was extraordinary, and the Japanese hospitality remarkable. His aim after this meeting is to work closely with our Dean Dr. Jeffrey Boscamp to build a relationship between our School of Medicine along with the Jikei University School of Medicine in Tokyo. This will be an incredible opportunity to create an exchange program for our scientists, medical students, residents and fellows.
