JFK Neurosurgeons Featured on Local News for Leadership in Medicine

NJ Spotlight News and New Jersey’s PBS stations recently aired a feature on JFK’s three female neurosurgeons: Dr. Yevgenia Shekhtman, Dr. Asha Iyer and Dr. Vanessa Milano. Dr. Shekhtman and Dr. Iyer discussed the importance of the mentorship they received and being role models for future female neurosurgeons. Dr. Milano was unable to appear on camera, as she was in the OR performing back-to-back surgeries the day the TV cameras were here. Half our neurosurgeons at JFK are women, in contrast with the national average, in which about one in every 20 board-certified neurosurgeons are female.
