Richard Schlussel, M.D., Director of Pediatric Urology at Hackensack University Medical Center just wrapped up a surgery mission in Guayacil, Ecuador at the Hospital de Roberto Gilbert.
The humanitarian trip was in coordination with the non-profit organization, Healing The Children, which provides donated medical care for children here and around the world.
As the Trip Chief in charge of a 30 person team, Dr. Schlussel says it was an exhausting but extremely rewarding and successful mission. The team cared for approximately 40 patients - all with complex congenital pediatric urology conditions. They performed many involved re-constructions.
