Heather Appelbaum, M.D., FACOG, recently joined Hackensack Meridian Children's Heath as director of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology.
With more than 20 years of experience, Dr. Appelbaum specializes in minimally invasive gynecological surgery for children and adolescents, and pediatric pelvic reconstructive surgery. Her special interests include congenital anomalies of the reproductive tract, vaginal agenesis, disorders of sex development, ovarian cysts/ovarian torsion, genital trauma, endometriosis, polycystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS), abnormal female pubertal development, and menstrual disorders.
Dr. Appelbaum has numerous publications in the area of Pediatric and Adolescent Gynecology; lecturing locally and nationally on these topics. She has served on several national and local medical advisory boards, and has developed and participated in multidisciplinary programs for patients with disorders of sex development.
