Michael J. Goldstein, M.D., FACS, has been named Director of Abdominal Organ Transplant at Hackensack University Medical Center’s Division of Organ Transplantation. Dr. Goldstein also serves as the Division of Organ Transplantation’s Director of Kidney & Pancreas Transplantation, as well as Director of Pediatric Abdominal Transplantation.
Since joining Hackensack in 2017, Dr. Goldstein has led the Division of Abdominal Organ Transplantation to become the second-fastest-growing program in the United States, with more than 500 percent growth in transplant volume. Hackensack is now the leading transplant center for quality outcomes in organ survival in the New York-New Jersey-Pennsylvania region, as well as the center with the shortest kidney transplant wait times in the tri-state area.
In addition to his clinical and leadership roles at Hackensack, Dr. Goldstein is an Associate Professor of Surgery at Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine at Seton Hall University. Dr. Goldstein’s research focuses on clinical transplantation outcomes, organ donor management, organ ischemia/preservation, and the changing nature and modernization of surgical education.
Prior to joining Hackensack Meridian Health, Dr. Goldstein served as Chief of Kidney Transplantation at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine with the academic ranking of Associate Professor of Surgery, as well as the Executive Director of the Life Alliance Organ Recovery Agency.
