What You Need To Know
STANDARDIZED TRAVEL SCREENING CHANGE BEGINNING TUESDAY, APRIL 29
WHAT IS HAPPENING:
With the rise of communicable diseases across the country (e.g. measles) and in alignment with our Standard Precautions Policy, we are relaunching Epic’s Travel Screening tool. The Communicable Disease Screening section was updated to better focus on patients presenting with symptoms indicative of possible communicable diseases. The initial question has been simplified, ensuring a more efficient and effective screening process.
The new Travel Screening tool will go live on April 29, 2025 across the network. The Patient Access Center (PAC) will also ask these questions when scheduling sick visits.
WHEN:
Tuesday, April 29, 2025
HOW DO I USE THE TOOL:
When a patient arrives at our sites with complaints of a new or worsening rash, fever and/or respiratory symptoms, a new critical alert will guide team members through the necessary steps to minimize potential exposures and transmission. These steps include:
- Masking: Both the team member and the patient will be provided masks.
- Isolation: The patient may be moved to a private room or an area away from others.
