What: Beginning on April 16, Thoracentesis and Paracentesis procedures must be ordered using Order Sets that include both the procedure order and the lab orders.
- Standalone orders from the preference lists will be removed.
- The order sets to use moving forward are:
- 535 - Thoracentesis Procedure and Labs
- 2394 - Paracentesis Procedure and Labs
Why: Patients have been arriving for Thoracentesis and Paracentesis procedures in the imaging department with unspecific lab orders. This delays the procedure while imaging staff contact the ordering provider to coordinate the needed labs to ensure patients fluids are sent out for all needed testing.
