New Epic BPA For MRI Safety

What You Need To Know

  • Beginning March 8, An Epic Best Practice Advisory (BPA) will present when providers select an MRI order for a patient who has been marked as unsafe for MRI.
  • To remove the MRI order, click "Accept" and select another type of imaging exam.
  • To continue with the MRI order, select "Other Options" and enter the name of the radiologist or MRI staff with whom the provider consulted.
The new alert will reduce delays in patient care that occur when providers order an MRI for patients who are unable to have these scans.
