Please find below the NJDOH vector-borne surveillance report for week 32.
Report highlights:
- NJDOH is reporting one human case of West Nile Virus (WNV) in Monmouth County. To date, there has been one human case and two presumptive viremic donors (PVD).
- Since last week’s report, 110 additional mosquito pools tested positive for WNV, for a total of 537 positive pools from 20 counties. Mosquito detections this year are higher than historical averages.
- The average number of Culex mosquitoes, which are associated with WNV transmission, was highest in Bergen and Hudson counties.
- One mosquito pool tested positive for Jamestown Canyon Virus (JCV) in week 32 from Union County. There have been no human cases of JCV in 2026.
- There have been no human or animal cases, or mosquito detections of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) in 2026.
- The number of Lyme disease cases continued to decrease this week and remains below historical averages.
- The number of tick-related emergency department visits continued to decrease and is level with historical averages.
