Please find below the NJDOH vector-borne surveillance report for week 31.
Report highlights:
- There have been no human or animal cases of WNV in 2026. Two WNV presumptive viremic blood donors (PVD) were reported in Bergen and Camden counties.
- One-hundred and ten additional mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) since last week’s report, for a total of 427 positive pools from 20 counties. Mosquito detections this year are higher than historical averages.
- The average number of Culex mosquitoes, which are associated with WNV transmission, was highest in Bergen and Hudson counties.
- There have been no human, animal, or mosquito detections of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) or Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV) in 2026.
- The number of Lyme disease cases continued to decrease this week and remains below historical averages.
- The number of tick-related emergency department visits continued to decrease and is level with historical averages.
