Please find attached the NJDOH vector-borne surveillance report for week 22.
Report highlights:
- One additional mosquito pool tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) since last week’s report from Gloucester County. Thirteen mosquitos have tested positive to date in 2025 from eight counties.
- The average number of Culex mosquitoes, which are associated with WNV transmission, was highest in Union and Hudson counties.
- There have been no human or animal cases of WNV in 2026. There have been no human, animal, or mosquito detections of Eastern equine encephalitis (EEE) or Jamestown Canyon virus (JCV) in 2026.
- The number of Lyme disease cases and the number of tick-related emergency department visits increased this week and are above historical averages.
