Below please find the COVID-19 and Respiratory Illness Activity Report. This report summarizes surveillance information for COVID-19, RSV, and other non-influenza viral respiratory illnesses.

Report Highlights:

  • For the week ending September 21st, the weekly average percentage of inpatient beds occupied by COVID-19 patients in NJ was 2.2% (CDC COVID Data Tracker).
  • The weekly average percentage of ICU beds occupied by COVID-19 patients was 1.3% (CDC COVID Data Tracker).
  • In the four weeks leading up to September 21st, KP.3.1.1 accounted for 35.9% of sequenced variants. LB.1 and KP.2.3 accounted for 16.0% and 15.1% of sequenced variants, respectively.
  • RSV percent positivity & percentage of emergency department visits with a diagnosis of RSV are low and stable.
  • For the week ending September 21, 2024, three COVID-19 outbreaks were reported into the SIC module by K-12 schools.
