What You Need To Know
Last week, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) released its Overall Hospital Quality Star Ratings for 2024. Hackensack University Medical Center once again earned a 5-star rating, the highest awarded by CMS. Hackensack University Medical Center is one of only four hospitals in New Jersey and among 13 percent of hospitals in the country to earn this rating.
With the majority of our hospitals earning 3 stars or higher - ranking in the top half in the U.S. - this distinction recognizes the significant improvements we have made over the last five years and is a testament to our exceptional physicians, nurses and team members.
CMS assigns star ratings to U.S. hospitals annually based on key performance measures: safety of care, mortality, patient experience, readmission rates, and timely and effective care. CMS ratings are considered a valuable tool for patients and their families as they look to make well-informed health care decisions. We are committed to serving our communities and patients with the highest quality and safest care, and we will continue getting better every day.
