Please find below the NJDOH vector-borne surveillance report for week 22.
Report Highlights:
- Two mosquito pools tested positive for West Nile Virus (WNV) this week (additional tests pending), for a total of 4 WNV positive pools in 2024: 2 pools in Gloucester County in week 18 and 1 pool each in Morris and Warren counties in week 21.
- There have been no human or animal cases of WNV reported in New Jersey in 2024.
- The number of travel-associated dengue cases in considerably higher in 2024 (37 cases) compared to the same timeframe in 2023 (9 cases), associated with outbreaks in several Latin American countries.
- The number of Lyme disease cases this week is lower than the average number reported this week in the past two years.
- In week 22, the number of tick-related ED visits was higher than the previous week but lower compared to this time last year and to the 5-year average. The highest number of visits was in the central east region.
