Highlights from the January 13 NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report include:
- Influenza activity level is at high statewide.
- Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
- Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are also lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
- There has been one confirmed influenza-associated pediatric death reported this season.
- Of the 56 influenza outbreaks reported this season, 31 were in the last three weeks.
- Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 66.71%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (20.56%), B (9.34%), and A(H3N2) (3.39%).
- Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season the most frequently reported is A (H1N1)pdm09.
