Please find attached the NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report for the week ending January 6, 2024 (MMWR week 1).
Report Highlights:

- Influenza activity level is at high statewide.
- Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
- Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are also lower than last week and higher than this week last year.
- There have been zero confirmed influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.
- Of the 42 influenza outbreaks reported this season, 21 were in the last three weeks.
- Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 66.73%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (21.06%), B (9.16%), and A(H3N2) (3.05%).
- Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season the most frequently reported is A (H1N1)pdm09.
