Please find attached the NJDOH Influenza Surveillance Report for the week ending December 16, 2023 (MMWR week 50).
Report Highlights:
- Influenza activity level is at moderate statewide.
- Emergency Department visits associated with influenza-like illness are higher than last week and lower than this week last year.
- Outpatient provider visits associated with influenza-like illness are also higher than last week and lower than this week last year.
- There have been zero confirmed influenza-associated pediatric deaths reported this season.
- Of the ten influenza outbreaks reported this season, six were in the last three weeks.
- Positive results continue to be reported; influenza A (subtyping not performed) is at 65.76%, followed by A (H1N1)pdm09 (22.37%), B (9.26%), and A(H3N2) (2.62%).
- Among the subtyped influenza viruses this season the most frequently reported is A (H1N1)pdm09.
