Updated Remdesivir Referral Process

Published:
June 20, 2023

Due to decreased demand, Hackensack University Medical Center, Jersey Shore University Medical Center and Ocean University Medical Center are streamlining the referral process for remdesivir. Please note these updates do not affect JFK University Medical Center’s current process.

The COVID Outpatient Therapeutics Clinic/MAb Clinic closed on Friday, June 16. Referrals sent to HUMCMAb@hmhn.org or faxed to 551-996-0419 will no longer be accepted. The HMH Network Screening number 551-996-0122 will also be decommissioned.

New Remdesivir Referral Process

If you believe your patient qualifies for remdesivir:

Hackensack University Medical Center: Refer your patient to Hackensack University Medical Center’s adult Emergency Department (ED). If the patient meets criteria on the initial visit, they will be offered a remdesivir 3-day course in the HUMC Adult ED, beginning on the following day prior to 10 a.m. This is a 3-day course, and the patient will present to the Adult ED every day for the next 3 days for infusion. If you have any questions about your patient’s eligibility and/or treatment status, call the covering PPOC provider at 551-996-2134. Patient evaluation is available 24-7.

Jersey Shore University Medical Center: Fill out the Referral Form for Outpatient Treatment of Mild to Moderate COVID-19 (click to download) and send your patient with their form to the adult ED for evaluation. If your patient qualifies for the three-day outpatient infusion, the ED team will begin treatment and direct the patient to return to the adult ED for the next two days for infusion in the adult ED. Patient evaluation is available 24-7.

Ocean University Medical Center: Fill out the Referral Form for Outpatient Treatment of Mild to Moderate COVID-19 (click to download) and send your patient with their form to the ED. If your patient qualifies for the three-day outpatient infusion, the ED team will administer the first dose in the ED. The pharmacy will then schedule the subsequent two doses at Ocean Care Center. Patient evaluation is available 24-7.
