Circle of Compassion
The COVID-19 pandemic has truly been one of the most challenging times that Hackensack Meridian Health has ever faced, placing unforeseen stress on our operations, systems and team members. In addition to concerns about ensuring the proper care for our COVID-19 patients, there may be many among us who are in need of financial assistance in the event of an emergency or personal crisis.
This is why we have launched a new program that harnesses funds and resources to provide support to our team members. The Circle of Compassion program, powered by the Colleague to Colleague and WIN (When In Need) funds, is designed to aid team members who are faced with temporary financial difficulties.
With the launch of the Circle of Compassion program, 100% of senior leadership has made a commitment totaling more than $1.21 million in donations. The program brings together nearly $2 million in donations from team members, leaders, senior leadership and the community to support our team members during this crisis and beyond. Whether it be COVID related or a different personal financial struggle due to unforeseen circumstances, we encourage you to apply to the Circle of Compassion program.

The web site includes an online form to submit a request for assistance, the process for reviewing the requests and how to donate to the fund.
We felt it was important for your peers and colleagues to be managing the fund’s review and decision process. To that end, the fund review committee is comprised of Culture Circle members from across the network.
The committee has three guiding principles:
- Complete Confidentiality – every request that comes in via the online application will be fully blinded before it is presented to the committee
- Expediency – the committee will meet as necessary to ensure requests are reviewed within 48 hours of receipt
- Compassionate Equity – the committee will make decisions based upon outlined criteria and with compassion for our team members
